Payment Methods 101: Crypto, Bank Transfer, and What to Offer First

Choosing which deposit and withdrawal methods to offer first is a real decision, not a formality. Here is how to think about it.

New operators often treat payment methods as an afterthought, something to configure once and forget. In practice, which methods you offer, and how well you explain them, has a direct effect on how many visitors actually complete their first deposit.

Crypto: fast to set up, familiar to many traders

Bitcoin and USDT are the two most commonly offered crypto options in this industry, and for good reason. They are relatively fast to configure, do not require a traditional payment processor relationship, and many traders in this space are already comfortable using them. The tradeoff is that a meaningful share of newer traders have never used crypto before, so clear, step by step instructions matter more here than for almost any other method.

Bank transfer: slower, but broadly trusted

Bank transfer takes longer to process and requires you to manage receiving account details carefully, but it remains the most broadly trusted option for traders who are unfamiliar with or hesitant about crypto. Offering it alongside crypto, rather than instead of it, widens who can comfortably deposit with you.

What to launch with

Most new operators do well starting with one crypto option and bank transfer, then adding card processing or additional crypto assets once volume justifies the extra operational overhead. Trying to support every possible payment method on day one usually means supporting all of them poorly rather than a smaller set well.

The instructions matter as much as the method

A deposit page with a wallet address and no further explanation loses a real share of first time crypto users who are unsure if they are doing it correctly. A short, clear set of instructions, including a QR code where possible, meaningfully reduces both abandoned deposits and support tickets asking whether a payment actually went through.
